ADVOCACY FOR ROAD SAFETY AND YOUTHFUL INVOLVEMENT

by Simon Patrick obi from nigeria

While road traffic crashes have remained a huge public health and development crisis in Nigeria, young people - who are key stakeholders and makeup over 70% of the entire population - are not involved at the decision-making table for Road Safety.

The project involves advocacy for road safety and youthful involvement in Nigeria. The project seeks to organize high-level policy dialogues on road safety; push for youth involvement; and advocate for the implementation of 30km/hr speed reduction in streets and high risks areas where road users especially youths mixed with traffic.

The goal of this project is to stimulate government actions towards improving road safety and also evaluate the effectiveness of road safety policies in Nigeria with youths at the drawing table. The project will involve the participation of the government at the highest level and strategic youth leaders in Nigeria. The project will stimulate intergenerational dialogue and also the participation of key state actors during the High-level meeting in June to July 2022.
