What is the Youth Coalition for Road Safety?
We are passionate young people from around the world taking action on safer mobility and championing meaningful youth participation in road safety and beyond. We operate from a set of principles that define and guide our work, globally and locally.
We offer you resources, skills, partnerships, and opportunities to take your ideas to the next level and maximise their impact. We believe that global and local action is needed to make the world’s roads safer for everyone and connect it to key related topics such as health, sustainable cities, climate change, education, poverty, and equality.
Will you join us in #ClaimingOurSpace for safe mobility and at the decision-making table?
PRINCIPLES
1. Meaningful youth participation
Young people have a right to be adequately informed, consulted and empowered to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are focusing on the SDGs that are linked to preventing road traffic injuries. As you know, road crashes are the biggest threat to young lives worldwide. Youth themselves have the potential to accelerate and energise a road safety revolution as agents of change in their immediate communities and beyond.

2. Youth-driven
“Nothing about youth, without youth”. We believe in young people’s leadership and we want to put them at the centre of development; we ensure that all actions are led by young leaders. We will ensure the youth voice is front and center and always bring it to the table. We give young people the chance to succeed and to learn, generating leadership through experience.
--
3. Safe and sustainable mobility systems
We will pursue the development of integrated mobility systems that allows us to use safe and sustainable transport, walk and cycle safely as well as breathe clean air. All our efforts will be focused towards the creation of a system that is accessible and affordable for everyone, regardless of gender, age and socio-economic status.
--
4. Equality & diversity
We ensure the creation of equal opportunities for all young people. We pay special attention to diversity in terms of country, region, gender, expertise, field of studies and specialisation in key development themes. We also champion and embrace people of all backgrounds and opinions and see diversity as an asset to our work. We promote diversity and inclusion as key elements to uphold equality of opportunity and acknowledge that a diverse team yields vibrant and innovative solutions. Read our [Diversity Policy][1].

5. Global Youth Statement for Road Safety
As a [key advocacy document][2] written by youth, the Global Youth Statement for Road Safety acts as a key roadmap tool to open conversations about safe mobility and its implementation, call on stakeholders as well as guide strategic actions in countries and communities that the Youth Coalition will support across the world.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Strategic objectives of the Youth Coalition:
Increasing the number of young leaders advocating for a safe mobility system and their advocacy capacities, from a local and global perspective underpinned by our key principles.
Scaling up youth-led actions at a grassroots level to influence better policies and their implementation in local communities.
Coordinating the Global Youth Coalition by offering resources, identifying skills gaps, and providing capacity development and partnerships to bring youth and relevant stakeholders (from broader health, mobility, and youth leadership) context together.
Global advocacy
Young people deserve a spot at the decision-making table so that they can contribute to the achievement of targets and goals that have relevance to their lives. We want to raise awareness about road safety and safe mobility issues in the most important national and international spaces and continue to break the silos by working through multi-sectoral approaches. Here are some of the things the Youth Coalition offers to support and empower its members:
