ART FOR VULNERABLE ROAD USERS

BY SHEHAB ABOU ZEID FROM EGYPT

Inspired by the #Artforroadsafety campaign. Art is one of the tools for empowering, especially psychological empowerment that represents the motivational construct of an intrinsic task, including four cognitions that reveal a personal orientation: competence, meaning, self-determination, and impact and demonstrates cognitive orientations about their job role, as a strength-based and solution-focused conceptual framework and methodology for using visual arts to foster self-reflection and self empowerment.

The project brief is to engage the young generation in Road Safety Movement by occupying the walls of one of the places where young people gather, such as universities, Social or Sports clubs Graffiti Drawing. But this must be preceded by establishing a youth committee that provides not only a platform to further develop the messages of the Graffiti drawings that defend the rights of the vulnerable road users but also to empower them.

The goal of the project is to energise the vulnerable road users’ movement of youth demanding safer and efficient active mobility in Egypt through embracing the new Decade of Action for Road Safety on a meaningful youth participation basis
