Today, the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety celebrated its fifth anniversary. As young leaders and changemakers from around the world gather to mark a historic milestone, this isn't just a celebration; it's a powerful testament to what happens when youth claim their space in a movement that directly affects their lives.
Founded in 2020, with the strategic objectives of increasing the number of young leaders advocating for a safe mobility system, scaling up youth-led actions at a grassroots level and coordinating resources, the Youth Coalition has grown into a global youth movement equipping young people with the right skills and voice to speak and fight for road safety, inclusive transport systems, and sustainable mobility.
Through the global award-winning YOURS Academy and initiatives like the Local Actions, the Youth Coalition equips a new generation of leaders with the critical skills needed to advocate for better, safer, cleaner roads and transportation. In 50+ countries, youth-led projects are reshaping streets and promoting safety initiatives through peer education programs. Through the Coalition, young leaders are securing seats at decision-making tables from local councils to United Nations forums, proving that youth participation isn't symbolic but meaningful.
This anniversary felt different; it was not just a look back but a big step forward. We launched the new CoalitionHUB App, giving members a dedicated space to connect, share resources, and push campaigns even further. We also announced the Pecha Kucha session, where young leaders will take the mic to share bold, fresh ideas. And maybe the most exciting part? The launch of the Youth Coalition Alumni Network, a new way for experienced members to stay involved and support the next generation of road safety changemakers.
These announcements aren't just event highlights, they're building blocks for our journey ahead. As the new app streamlines collaboration, the alumni network deepens intergenerational knowledge-sharing, and platforms like Pecha Kucha amplify youth voices, we're not just celebrating progress; we're accelerating it.
Right now in the CoalitionHUB, young advocates are exchanging fresh ideas for local campaigns, policymakers are hearing directly from those most affected by road crashes, and new partnerships are forming to scale our impact. We're building the foundation for the next years of impact with strengthened leadership structures, expanded local recruitment, and innovative advocacy tools.
As the Youth Coalition enters its next chapter, we extend deep gratitude to TotalEnergies Foundation and many other partners for believing in and backing youth as drivers of change during these five years. Together, we're proving that when young people have the tools and platforms to lead, they don't just imagine safer roads; they build them. Hereβs to many more years of youth power in action.
