[External Opportunities: Funding] WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities 2027-2028
Cities around the world need bold, practical solutions to become safer, more inclusive and sustainable. The WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities 2027–2028 is now open for applications, recognising transformative projects that improve urban life and help cities become more resilient. From safer streets and greener neighbourhoods to innovative approaches to urban mobility, the Prize celebrates initiatives that are already making a tangible difference.
The winning project will receive US$250,000, while each of the four other finalists will receive US$25,000. The Prize is open to individuals, community groups, non-governmental organisations, businesses, local governments and partnerships working to create positive change in cities. Projects must demonstrate real-world results and offer lessons that could inspire similar initiatives elsewhere.
Young leaders working on safer mobility, sustainable transport or more liveable cities may find this an opportunity to showcase their impact and help scale solutions that work. Previous finalists and winners have demonstrated how locally driven initiatives can transform urban spaces, improve road safety and create better opportunities for communities.
Applications are open until 13 January 2027 at 11:59 pm ET. Explore the eligibility criteria, discover inspiring projects from previous editions and register a project through the official website.
