From Members to Mentors: The Alumni Network Takes Its First Steps

Following the launch of the Coalition’s Alumni Network, we’re excited to share the first concrete step in bringing this community to life: the Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Programme is now open.

The Alumni Network was created to ensure that experience, leadership, and knowledge built within the Coalition continue to circulate. As discussed during our first Alumni Network meeting, this space is not about stepping away, but about stepping into new roles that support and strengthen the next generation of leaders.

One of the key pillars of the Alumni Network is mentorship. Through peer-to-peer exchanges, Alumni members support current Coalition members by sharing expertise, offering guidance, and providing practical, experience-based feedback.

The mentorship programme is designed to be:

  • Peer-to-peer, connecting Alumni members as mentors with Coalition members as mentees

  • Free of charge

  • Fully online, via the CoalitionHUB

  • Time-bound, lasting between 3 and 5 months

  • Flexible in topic, language, and meeting frequency

Mentorship areas include advocacy, communications, data and research, fundraising, transport planning, infrastructure change, climate action, gender, decarbonisation, soft skills, and technical support.

Available mentorships

As part of this first phase, several mentorships are already available on the CoalitionHUB, led by Alumni members with hands-on experience across regions and disciplines:

  1. Fundraising and resource mobilisation for non-profits, led by Richard Young Owere (English)

  2. Strategic planning for advocacy projects, led by Ana Rodríguez (English/Spanish)

  3. Advocacy leadership and strategy development, led by Simon Obi (English)

  4. Urban planning for pedestrian mobility, led by Aldo González Barrera (Spanish)

More mentorships will be added on a rolling basis as additional Alumni members join the programme.
