Young Cyclists in Tajikistan celebrate World Bicycle Day

 
 
 

In an article published by AA, Sibel Morrow writes that Turkmenistan’s Embassy in Ankara organized a bicycle tour in the Turkish capital to mark World Bicycle Day.

More than 50 cyclists as well as the representatives of the WHO - World Health Organization, embassies of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia participated in the tour around Eymir Lake.

In his article, Morrow stated Turkmenistan Ambassador Ishankuli Amanlyev recalled that World Bicycle Day was first initiated in 2018 by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. “It has been celebrated everywhere in our country [Turkmenistan] and bike tours were organized,"


 
 


The Public Organization Young Generation of Tajikistan organized a bike ride on the Dushanbe-Hisor route. Skilled bike owners, representatives of the Japan Embassy in Tajikistan, and Critical Mass participated in this event.


The event reflects the goal of Local Actions Project “Reclaiming Space for Walking and Cycling” of encouraging authorities to promote walking and cycling as a policy priority. Through the activity, The Young Generation of Tajikistan promotes active mobility to address environmental issues, highlight sustainable urban development, and improve public health.

The event was is conducted through the support by Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport.
