Youth Coalition to join #Safety2024

 
 
 


The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety is sending three youth delegates to the 15th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (#Safety2024) in Delhi, India. This year’s theme is on Building a Safer Future for All: Equitable and Sustainable Strategies for Injury and Violence Prevention.

The Conference is a pivotal gathering of global leaders, academics and experts dedicated to addressing the critical issues of injury prevention and safety promotion. It also serves as a vital platform for the exchange of knowledge, collaboration on research, and development of strategies aimed at saving lives, with a particular focus on injury prevention, sustainability and equality.

The conference is hosted by The George Institute for Global Health in collaboration with three other WHO Collaborating Centres in the region, viz., the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Center (TRIP) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Department of Emergency Medicine, All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and the Department of Epidemiology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). The conference is co-sponsored by the World Health Organization - WHO.

 
 


Each of the Youth Coalition’s Delegates are leading events during the Conference. Deepanshu will give a presentation on empowering cities to solve their own road safety issues via youth-led, community-driven, multi-sectoral action backed by data and technology under the mentorship of experts, Pankhuri will lead a poster presentation on youth-driven actions of road safety in the sustainable development agenda, and Sana’a will hold presentations on bridging the gap between youth and policymakers and youth voices on road safety.

The presentations and discussions will be guided by objectives that include; focusing on vulnerable road user groups, ensuring and sustaining global collaborations, maintaining networking and synergy efforts, promotion of knowledge sharing, influencing declarations on meaningful youth participation, and promoting youth voices and stories.

The Conference will run from the 2nd to the 4th of September 2025. More updates to follow.
