ROADS OF HOPE: CAIRO’S WHEELCHAIR MOBILITY REVOLUTION

Project theme: Sustainable, Inclusive and Active Mobility (SIAM) solutions

BY REEM EL SHERBINY

This project aims to enhance mobility for disabled persons in Cairo through three key objectives. By October 2025, we will present a policy paper with five accessibility recommendations to local stakeholders. By February 2026, we will train 20 volunteers in ramp construction and accessibility improvements.

Additionally, we will launch an awareness campaign by December 3, 2025, reaching at least 5,000 people to highlight the link between road crashes and disability rights. Expected outcomes include actionable policy recommendations, a skilled volunteer group implementing changes, and increased public awareness of mobility challenges faced by disabled youth, fostering community support for inclusive design.
