Safe Steps

Project theme: Speed reduction

BY NOOR ZAHRAN

"Safe Steps" is a youth-led project in Amman, Jordan, aiming to improve road safety around public schools in underserved neighborhoods. It tackles the lack of pedestrian infrastructure and high vehicle speeds through creative, low-cost interventions like street art, VR awareness sessions, and policy advocacy for 30 km/h zones.

The project empowers students and young advocates to lead school zone safety audits, engage local authorities, and promote safer walking environments. By combining data, storytelling, and community action, "Safe Steps" fosters a culture of safe mobility, ensuring youth’s right to access education without risking their lives on dangerous roads.
