SMPN 22

Bandung School Road Safety

Project theme: Sustainable, Inclusive and Active Mobility (SIAM) solutions; Motorcycle Safety; Speed reduction

BY YOHANA NATASYA SILALAHI

Youth-Led Road Safety Project at SMPN 22 Bandung is an initiative to create safer school zones through the leadership of students and young advocates. Located next to a busy flyover, the school faces serious safety risks due to poor infrastructure and low helmet use. This project empowers youth to assess conditions, engage parents and communities, and co-design improvements like a dedicated route for students.

By combining education, advocacy, and participatory planning, it builds a strong culture of safety around the school. The project aims to serve as a scalable model for youth-driven road safety efforts across Indonesian school zones.
