Coalition collaborates with Young Transport Professionals for online session

The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety has partnered with the Young Transport Professionals (YTP) for a panel discussion on road safety, focusing on the actions that need to be done to meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 3.6, halving the number of road-related deaths and injuries by the year 2030. 

The session will follow the theme Starting the Decade of Action on Road Safety and is set on 18 November at 5:30 pm AEDT.

YTP is an organization based in Australia that gives its members the opportunity to hear from industry leaders to talk about new technologies and innovations it transport. YTP also allows its members to connect with others from different industries like engineering, safety, community, and more. At present, YTP has over a thousand members from over 150 companies. 

YTP and the Coalition are working together to develop a session to discuss and raise awareness on issues surrounding safe roads and sustainable mobility. The session will explain the work of the Coalition and YTP and will have a panel that will give a more in-depth look on efforts toward 50 by 30. 

The panel will different feature road safety leaders from different departments. It will have the CEO of the International Road Assessment Program (iRap) – Rob McInerney, the Zero 2050 Coordinator of the Department of Transport – Wayne Moon, the Transport Planning and Infrastructure Advisor of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited (RACQ) and Youth Advisory Board Member of the Coalition – Grace Willems, and the Senior Insights Officer of the Department of Transport – Alex Herold.

Moderating the panel will be YOURS – Youth for Road Safety Communications Officer and Global Youth Advisory Board Member, Maolin Macatangay. 

During the session, participants will be involved as they will be asked to share their opinions on what the world could do to meet SDG Target 3.6 within the decade.
