On 6 March 2025, the European Commission hosted its first-ever Youth Policy Dialogue on Transport and Tourism, bringing together young people from across the EU to share their expectations, challenges, and insights on the future of mobility. This dialogue provided a platform for youth to engage directly with EU decision-makers, highlighting both the opportunities and barriers they encounter as travellers, commuters, and future professionals in the transport and tourism sectors.
A defining moment of the event was the endorsement of the 2025 Global Youth Statement for Road Safety by EU Commissioner for Transport, Apostolos Tzitzikostas. Recognising the statement as a vital contribution to shaping youth-focused mobility policy across Europe, the Commissioner’s endorsement further validated the efforts of young advocates working to place safety, sustainability, and equity at the centre of transport systems.
“Every action we take, every decision we make, impacts the future—and the future of Europe belongs to its youth,” remarked Commissioner Georgiadis during the session, underscoring the critical role young people play in designing and driving mobility solutions.
