SCHOOL SAFETY ZONE IMPROVEMENT AND EDUCATION

BY jada brown

Through The Project School Safety Zone Improvement and Education or S.S.Z.I.E, the Belizean Youth for Road Safety will continue an initiative started by The Second Belize Road Safety Project as a Pilot Project to improve the safety aspect of at risk school zones around the country of Belize.

The Pilot Project was led by YOURS - Youth for Road Safety, AMEND, and other local stakeholders through the Belizean Youth for Road Safety Institutional Strengthening Consultancy in 2023.

The Project is expected to last 12 months and our objectives will be to improve a selected school zone, liaise with the city council to advocate for policy change to accommodate infrastructural changes and then educating students and community through creative workshops on how to properly use the safety improvements provided.
