LIFT OFF: The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety has officially been launched!

The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety was officially launched last Tuesday, 7 July 2020. The launch was broadcasted live through the then 2nd World Youth Assembly (WYA) for Road Safety Facebook Page, now renamed to the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety.

The WYA Pages were officially changed from WYA Road Safety to Claiming Our Space to usher in the new movement.

Youth from all over the world tuned in as the Youth Advisory Board, leaders from the Youth for Road Safety – YOURS, and Global Road Safety Partners came together to raise the call for safer roads and sustainable mobility through youth-led efforts and initiatives.

The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety seeks to energize the global youth movement for road safety. Through the power of young leaders, the coalition will work toward the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the new decade of action.

To support its members, the coalition will provide a library of development capacity tools and resources, a way to connect with different groups and leaders from all over the world, and a platform to share local and global projects and initiatives.

Through the coalition, youth leaders and youth-led organizations will be at the center of the global road safety movement, addressing the biggest threat to global youth health. As Professor Agnes Binagwaho MD, M(PED), PhD shared with the global youth task force, “there is no solution for the youth without the youth.”

Be a part of the road safety movement and join the Global Youth Coalition! Let’s keep #ClaimingOurSpace
