Local Actions 2025: 15 Youth-led Projects Selected to Take Mobility Change to The Streets.
Across the world, young people are reimagining how we move. From busy cities to small communities, they bring fresh ideas and local knowledge to reshape streets and systems, making them safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable for everyone.
This is the power of Local Actions, YOURS’ flagship programme that invests in youth-led mobility projects built on evidence, innovation, and community connection. Each year, YOURS supports a new group of changemakers ready to lead bold solutions where they are needed most.
In 2025, the programme focuses on three key themes: Sustainable, Inclusive, and Active Mobility (SIAM) solutions; Motorcycle Safety; and Speed Reduction. These themes reflect some of the most pressing and often overlooked road safety challenges affecting young people today. The selected projects stood out for their relevance, innovation, and potential to create a tangible impact on the ground.

These youth leaders bring a unique vision rooted in their community’s needs. Here's how they were selected.
A Global, Youth-led Selection Process
The 2025 cycle launched with an open call that received 105 applications from around the world. Each proposal reflected the local knowledge and lived experience of youth who were closest to the issues and ready to solve them.
After an initial screening process, 95 projects were pre-selected for detailed evaluation. A multisectoral group of professionals and youth leaders formed the Evaluation Committee, which included:

Following this process, 15 youth-led projects were selected to receive full support from YOURS to launch and implement their initiatives between July 2025 and July 2026. Each selected project will now receive:
Seed Funding: Up to €5,000 per project to support local implementation.
Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from an expert in road safety, urban design, advocacy or mobility, tailored to each project’s needs and stage.
Technical Support: Through the Local Actions Residency Programme, youth leaders will complete 12 training hours through interactive coaching. The Residency training will help them polish their project plans, focusing on SMART objectives, evidence-based actions, and long-term sustainability. They will also receive support to strengthen their advocacy, communications, and policy work.
Partnerships: Connections with local stakeholders, and where possible, with national offices of global partners who can enhance the reach and relevance of each initiative.
