You are invited to our session for World Environment Day 2023

You are invited to our webinar for World Environment Day 2023 happening on Thursday, 8th June at 3 PM CET. The webinar, titled Youth at the Intersection of Safe Mobility, Environment, and Health, looks to raise awareness about the connection between road safety and environmental sustainability. It will also foster discussions on how individuals and communities can promote road safety, environmental conservation, and improved well-being.

Road safety and environmental sustainability are interconnected and are vital in creating a sustainable future that leads to better health and well-being for all. To address issues around road safety and environmental sustainability, there needs to be a shift in how we think about mobility.

The discussion will help present innovative approaches that will lead to transportation systems that prioritize safety, efficiency, and environmental consciousness that supports the health and well-being of everyone, especially the most marginalized.

Globally, road transportation significantly contributes to climate change and environmental degradation through air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, habitat destruction, and more. These influences on the environment have far-reaching consequences on global health and well-being.

To address this, it is crucial to promote sustainable transportation options. By talking about the outcomes of our transportation choices, we can encourage the adoption of eco-friendly modes of travel such as walking, cycling, and the use of public transportation.

Through our SDG 13 Policy Brief illustrates the role of sustainable mobility in reducing the negative impacts of traditional transportation systems on the environment. This tool will help our members explore and understand the link between road safety, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of youth.

The webinar will discuss innovative strategies for integrating road safety measures with sustainable mobility initiatives and raise awareness on the roles of individuals and communities in promoting road safety and environmental conservation.

The event will be moderated by our Youth Leadership Board Member Alex Ayub and will feature UNICEF Health Specialist and India Country Officer Dr. Syed Hubbe Ali, SDG Champion Yasmine Al Moghrabi, and YOURS - Youth for Road Safety Advocacy and Campaigns Manager Sana’a Khasawneh.
