MEET THE ROAD SAFETY AMBASSADORS

The Road safety Ambassadors are the youth leaders in-charge of organising the 3rd World Youth Assembly for Road Safety happening in
Marrakech, Morocco on February 2025.

In their roles, the Ambassadors will shape messages about the global youth movement to other fields; recruit youth for the movement; engage media to highlight the role of youth; use your voice to amplify campaign messages, facilitate onstage during the Assembly, potentially including emceeing speeches, trainings, panels, or exhibit, or other public speaking, and advocate to government and global decision-makers for the sustainable mobility agenda, potentially including as a speaker at the WHO Global Ministerial Conference

 

 

MEET VALERIA BERNAL CASTILLO

Valeria is a youth leader from Colombia and a prominent road safety activist with extensive expertise in transportation, urban mobility, and gender issues. Her deep knowledge of sustainable mobility and passion for urban resilience have driven significant policy changes, influencing key decision-makers in Bogotá. As an SDG 5 Champion at YOURS - Youth for Road Safety, Valeria plays a pivotal role in integrating road safety into the Sustainable Development Goals.

Driven by the pressing need to address the global challenge of road traffic crashes in Latin America and the Caribbean, Valeria is a dedicated advocate for road safety and youth engagement, actively leveraging social media to amplify her message.

Valeria is currently a candidate for a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning at Universidad de los Andes. She holds a specialization in Care Policies with a Gender Perspective from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, and has dual degrees in Political Science and Urban Management from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia. In both 2023 and 2024, Valeria was awarded prestigious scholarships to participate in leadership programs by The Fund for American Studies (Universidad de Los Andes, Chile) and Liderazgo por Bogotá (Universidad de los Andes, Colombia).
