Morocco 2024: What Youth are Demanding from Ministers

YOURS - Youth for Road Safety will be hosting the 3rd World Youth Assembly for Road Safety in Marrakech, Morocco, on February 2025 as a pre-event to the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.

The Assembly will bring together young leaders and activists from around the globe to elevate the discourse on road safety and sustainable mobility. It will serve as a platform for youth to share their insights, innovations, and demands with global stakeholders, thereby influencing the broader agenda of the Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.

With different leaders and sectors in the road safety field coming together, the Youth Assembly and the Ministerial Conference prepared specific advocacy messages to guide the conversation between stakeholders and push forward the global road safety agenda.

The first message encourages financing stakeholders to double their investment in youth-oriented road safety and sustainable mobility.

Youth will join the call for targeted investments that address gaps, highlighting how young people's insights and innovations can improve lagging areas. While covering road safety in general, the call will also focus on addressing areas that need further development, such as helmet use, speed management, and the critical role of youth.

The second message will focus on boosting multi-sectoral and intergenerational collaborations to accelerate the implementation of sustainable and cost-effective solutions to address road safety concerns worldwide.

The second message also recognises youth as crucial partners in identifying and implementing these solutions. By leveraging youth's unique perspectives and energy, multi-sectoral & intergenerational efforts can be significantly enhanced, leading to faster and more effective advancements in road safety and sustainable mobility.

The final message establishes effective and tangible accountability mechanisms that allow for closer and more interconnected monitoring of countries’ progress while calling for youth integration in the design, execution, and monitoring of these mechanisms.

“By involving young people directly impacted by road safety issues, governments can ensure that accountability processes are more robust, transparent, and reflective of the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders, particularly the younger generations.”

The Youth Coalition will open the call for registrants to join the 3rd World Youth Assembly for Road Safety in the next few weeks. Stay tuned to our social media for more updates!
