UN Road Safety Fund to hold #Moments2Live4 Series with Road Safety Champions

Earlier this November, the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) launched the #MomentstoLive4 campaign – a global social media campaign to raise awareness on the importance of investing in better road safety performance within low-and-middle-income countries. The campaign will be from November to June each year during the new Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030).

The campaign highlights the value of life, emphasizing that there are “so many moments to live for”. It puts into focus the reality of people dying on the world’s roads every day around the world. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that approximately 1.35 million people die every year as a result of road crashes. That is why different sectors and organizations are working hard to meet the target of halving the number of road-related deaths and injuries by the year 2030.

As part of the campaign, the UNRSF is holding the #Moments2Live4 Series with Road Safety Champions. The UNRSF organized a series of video premieres with a guest of honor followed by a roundtable discussion with global road safety champions.

The first premiere of the #Moments2Live4 video will feature UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Mr. Jean Todt. The roundtable discussion will also feature Coalition Youth Leadership Board Member, Agathe Postif. Agathe will participate in the conversation to highlight the role of youth in road safety efforts around the world.

Apart from highlighting and encouraging important conversations around road safety and funding, the #Moments2Live4 series will help boost the campaign to further raise awareness on the more personal aspect of road crashes. It will also highlight the experiences of people around the world through video submissions highlighting personal moments with family, friends, and loved ones.

Through the campaign, the UNRSF encourages the community to share campaign messages and post photos or videos of the moments in life that inspire you to believe in the importance of safe roads everywhere. These are #moments2live4.

From 2021-2022, the UNRSF are targeting 24 most populous countries – comprising some of the most affected countries by, as well as some of the strongest country champions for, the issue of financing road safety in low- and middle-income countries.
