YLB Member named FIA Foundation and Child Health Initiative Youth Ambassador

Oliva Nalwadda, one of our Youth Leadership Board Members, was recently named the Youth Ambassador of Africa for the FIA Foundation and Child Health Initiative. As an ambassador, Oliva will help coordinate national commitments on adolescent well-being in Africa with a particular focus on South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

Her first task under the new role was to engage national stakeholders from Ministries, Youth Organizations, UN Agencies, and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Botswana in national conversations about adolescent well-being. This was done in preparation for the SDG Summit and Adolescent Forum.

As an ambassador, Oliva will also liaise with key stakeholders around adolescent health and road safety to secure their support and commitment to the causes of the FIA Foundation and Child Health Initiative. These would include work toward safer roads, climate action, clean air, child and youth rights, liveable cities, and more.

She will also be a champion for youth and ensure that adolescents and young people are meaningfully engaged in all aspects of the organization’s projects.

“National commitments on adolescent well-being are not the end point but rather a central point for Governments to make policy, financial, and programmatic commitments on adolescent well-being. It's an opportunity for young people to be meaningfully engaged in holding their governments accountable especially when it comes to the fulfillment of these commitments,” - Oliva Nalwadda

Oliva will support and prepare young people also representing the FIA Foundation and the Child Health Initiative for their engagements with stakeholders at the national level and at global platforms which include but are not limited to the SDG Summit, High-Level Political Forum, and the Global Adolescent Forum.

She will foster consultations with young leaders but importantly, ensure that road safety is well reflected among the Adolescent priorities

She will represent both the FIA Foundation and the Child Health Initiative on different regional and global platforms.
