The challenges facing law enforcement agencies continue to evolve along with today's fast-paced digital age.

The World Police Summit is a platform for policing and security experts to address pressing issues and challenges across the world's police forces. Taking place from March 5th to 7th 2024, the event aimed to be the premier global exchange platform by bringing together law enforcement agencies and government representatives for a safer future.

The vision of the World Police Summit is to be the global voice of the law enforcement community, driving strategic discussions and collaborative solutions to create a safer world. The event was packaged in seven different conference topics including Crime Prevention, Drones, Resilience and Sustainability, Future Mobility and Road Safety, Forensics, Anti-Narcotics and K9. Its theme was "Uniting Global Forces for a Safer Tomorrow"

Estiara Ellizar, a Youth Leadership Board (YLB) member of the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety was one of the speakers at the World Police Summit 2024 on the topic of Future Mobility and Road Safety conference which raised the issue of Women in Road Safety. She was joined by Jana Peleskova (Chief Commissioner, ROADPOL) and Ingrid Johnston (Chief Executive Officer, Australasian College of Road Safety), and was hosted by moderator Rulla Farra (KPMG).

In the session, Estiara discussed the role of women in creating an inclusive and safe transportation system. She explained that the transportation system has been designed with the male perspective in mind and that it often does not consider the specific needs of women and young girls. She added that this is why ensuring women's participation is needed in the decision-making process related to the transportation system.

"Gender-responsive and transformative planning is the key to enhancing gender equality in our mobility systems. Understanding and reflecting the complex mobility needs of women and girls means systematically mainstreaming their meaningful participation in policy development and implementation for safe and sustainable mobility," - Estiara Ellizar
