EmpowerIng Women IN NEPAL
LED BY Asmita Pokhrel from nepal
Women face increased risk when it comes to road safety. This may be a result of factors such as poor road infrastructure, lack of education and awareness, cultural biases that limit women’s mobilities, and more. In Nepal, women are often unsafe on roads whether as commuters, private vehicle users, cyclists, or pedestrians.
The project, "Empowering Women on the Roads of Nepal: Strategies for Safety" is based on empowering women for safe mobility. The project will focus on the transport barrier that deters movement in public spaces. One of the projected outcomes of the project is the development of a curriculum on women’s safety on roads which will be handed to the Local Municipality of Nepal. The document will serve as an advocacy awareness tool for women.
