Safe RIDE Jakarta

Sexual harassment is a serious issue with negative effects on the physical and emotional well-being of commuters. The threat of being harassed or assaulted is a strong factor that can discourage people, especially women, from taking public modes of transportation.

To address this, the Safe Ride Jakarta project will focus on addressing sexual harassment in public transportation spaces in Jakarta. To protect road users, especially commuters, the project will aim to develop safety protocols. It will also provide education and other resources to key stakeholders so that they will have the support necessary to report and address cases of sexual harassment or assault.

Through the project, an advocacy movement will be launched that will call for policy change so that stricter regulations and penalties for violators will be enforced and implemented. The ultimate objective is to ensure safe and comfortable travel for all commuters, especially women, who are often the primary targets of such harassment.
