The Global Youth Coalition is hosting an online event this coming Friday, August 13 at 3 pm CET to commemorate International Youth Day entitled “No more youth tokenism”. The session will be an artistic and interactive session that will give different sectors and stakeholders to talk about meaningful youth participation, what it means, and how it can be actively implemented.

International Youth Day, formalized by the United Nations, draws attention to the challenges and issues young people face around the world. This year’s theme is “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”. The theme aims to highlight that the success of global and even local efforts such as these would not be achieved without the meaningful participation of youth.

The session, “No more youth tokenism”, will feature partners and organizations who actively and meaningfully engage with young people, involving them in all stages of the decision-making process. It will also feature young leaders who are taking real action in their communities focused on efforts like road safety, health, climate, and inequalities.

The speakers of the event will partake in dynamic conversations and artistic interventions that will encourage reflections and discussions on the different ways young people can meaningfully participate in transforming realities and how the global goals, with a special focus on road safety, will intersect with development efforts as a way to achieve human and planetary health.
