1. Where are you connected right now? Tell us about the work you're doing.

I am connected in Tirana, Albania, where I work at Active Mobility - an NGO dedicated to promoting cycling and green mobility solutions. Currently, I am involved in various projects aimed at enhancing cycling safety and infrastructure, improving urban mobility, and aiming to incorporate cycling education into school curricula. My work focuses on transforming local mobility patterns, advocating for sustainable transport, and engaging the community in active mobility initiatives.

2. How did you first get involved in road safety, and how long have you worked in the road safety and sustainable mobility field?
My involvement in road safety began through my work as an activist in Tirana, Albania. I have been working in the field of road safety and sustainable mobility for several years, focusing particularly on promoting cycling as a safe and sustainable transport option, particularly for vulnerable groups. This involvement grew from recognizing the need for safer cycling conditions and better infrastructure to support an active lifestyle and sustainable urban development.

3. Can you tell us about your area's road safety and sustainable mobility situation?
In my area, road safety and sustainable mobility are gaining attention as critical issues. Despite significant challenges such as a car-dominant culture and safety concerns, there has been progress in recent years, including the implementation of new bike lanes and safety measures. However, there is still much work to be done to shift public attitudes towards embracing cycling and other forms of active mobility.

4. Why do you think it's essential to include young people in local and global road safety efforts?
Including young people in local and global road safety efforts is essential because they are not only future leaders and influencers but also among the most affected by road safety issues. Engaging young people helps ensure that road safety measures are inclusive and effective, catering to the needs of all demographic groups. Moreover, involving youth in these efforts can foster a culture of safety and sustainability from an early age.

5. Why did you join the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety?

I joined the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety to connect with a network of like-minded individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting road safety globally. My involvement in the coalition allows me to share experiences, learn from international best practices, and bring valuable insights back to my community in Albania.

6. What are your comments on the Youth Coalition? Its activities? Its opportunities?
The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety is a remarkable initiative that offers a platform for youth to engage in meaningful advocacy and action toward safer roads. The coalition's activities, ranging from awareness campaigns to policy advocacy, provide numerous opportunities for members to contribute to global road safety efforts. The coalition also offers training and resources that empower young leaders to take active roles in their communities.

7. Any messages for people who have not yet joined the Youth Coalition?
For those who have not yet joined the Youth Coalition, I would highly encourage doing so, especially if you are passionate about road safety and sustainable mobility. Joining the Youth Coalition is an opportunity to make a difference not just locally but on a global scale. It is a chance to be part of a vibrant community that is actively working towards making roads safer for everyone, which aligns closely with the goals of active mobility and our efforts at Active Mobility to promote cycling and sustainable transport solutions.
