1. Where are you connected right now? Tell us about the work you're doing.
I am currently finishing my MBA in Marketing at the University of New York Tirana. At the same time, I am working at the General Directorate of Road Transport Services in the Road Safety field.
2. How did you first get involved in road safety and how long have you been working in the road safety and sustainable mobility field?
When I first came to work in New York, the Road Safety Project had just started. Young adults would promote road safety. The way we chose to do this is by going at least twice a week in different schools in Albania and teaching road safety to young children, 6-12 years old, by using simple, fun, educational activities that can help them stay safe on the roads. The key principles in these activities are good behaviour around roads, making safe choices to keep children and others around them safe, and dangers of traffic. I have been working in this field for about one year and a half.
3. Can you tell us a little bit about the road safety and sustainable mobility situation in your area?
When you search on Google “Is driving safe in Albania?”, the answer you get is “Albania has one of the highest road fatality rates in Europe, so driving there isn't for the inexperienced.” Also, many roads are still in poor condition and under construction.
