Interview conducted by Sana’a Khasawneh

Youth leaders Charu Agarwal, Jatin Babberm, and Sparsh Agrawal have recently joined the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety and we were thrilled to learn about its innovative and inclusive approach to road safety challenges.

The group works for an organization called DoorVi Video Calls - an organization that helps notify car owners of wrong parking, road crashes, and available roadside assistance.

  • Introduce your team

We are a team of passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds with a mission to bring about change in people's lives through our work. We have a knack for problem-solving and hold experience in program development, entrepreneurship, design, and executing projects at a large scale.

  • What inspired you to start DoorVi?

As per a report by Statista, an average of 1,130 road crashes and 422 deaths happen daily in India. Out of these, only 30% of people get the necessary medical assistance on time because it is difficult to reach emergency contacts who can take decisions on behalf of the victim on time. We started DoorVi with a vision of providing emergency medical care through the provision of reaching emergency contacts as part of post-crash care.

  • What is DoorVi?

DoorVi QR Code is a smart solution for Vehicles that helps to instantly connect family members during an emergency. The Vehicle owner can see and speak with the user from anywhere in the world on a smartphone. Once the DoorVi kit arrives, Download the DoorVi App from Google / Apple App Store to activate your QR code and pair it to your DoorVi Vehicle.

Carefully Peel Off The Sticky Layer of the QR Code and Paste the QR Sticker on the Car Window From the Inside. Start From The Center Of The Sticker And Push It Towards The Edges So It Sticks Properly. The DoorVi unit is manufactured with a long-lasting, durable, waterproof, and scratch-resistant material.

  • How does DoorVi help improve road safety in India?

With the help of DoorVi QR Stickers, we are able to create an opportunity to contact family members and other people concerned in time so that the victim can get the required medical support. It helps deliver post-crash care in a timely and effective manner.

  • Where does DoorVi currently operate?

DoorVi is currently operational across PAN- India. Our next step is to launch it globally in the upcoming quarter.

  • As a young entrepreneur, what obstacles did you face developing your start-up? How did you overcome them?

Some of the challenges that we faced in our entrepreneurship journey involved changing the mindset of people to switch from traditional approaches to the use of technology and how it can be more effective. Building a team of people sharing the same passion and the quest to bring about change and support our vision was also a bit of a challenge. I think as founders, we were able to overcome this by simplifying things, constant communication, and sharing the importance of our end goal with people at large

  • How can entrepreneurship play a role in achieving the 2030 agenda and the 2nd decade of action on Road Safety?

I think entrepreneurship can play a vital role in terms of creating awareness and executing the programs at large. It can help to educate communities about the importance of road safety and the immediate measures that can be taken care of during or post any crash.

When you are on the road, not just think about your own safety but for the others as well who are on the road.
