TRAFFIC CARE YOUTH INITIATIVE PROJECT
BY NKUMBUYE AMI FROM RWANDA
The project focused on community awareness through road safety teaching sessions. Target audiences were primary and secondary schools around Kigali city and the Southern Province.
The project also advocated for discussions with road safety leaders as a way to show decision-makers that the roads were unsafe for young people. A radio talk show campaign was also done to spread the road safety message in Rwanda. Its goal was to contribute to the decrease in morbidity and mortality related to road crashes, with the target of decreasing the number of traffic deaths and injuries among primary and secondary schools in Kigali City and Southern Province by the end of May 2022.
