TOP TIPS

HOW TO WRITE A GRANT-WINNING PROPOSAL

We designed this session to help you create project proposals that align with specific parameters and have a realistic scope so that they can be successfully implemented and evaluated.

The session also stresses the fact that the proposals should not only focus on education, but will provide an overlook of the wider safe system and the relevance to identify an existing policy gap or lack of implementation that can be addressed by the project once it is implemented.

WHAT are LOCAL ACTIONS

A Local Action is a short-term or mid-term grassroots action project oriented to address the most pressing Road Safety issues in your community.

Projects must be conceived, led, and implemented by young people
taking active leadership in their communities to contribute to the reduction of road traffic crashes and injuries with creative, innovative and sustainable solutions. They must also be focused on one or more of the four priorities:

  • Advocacy for Policy Change

  • Community Mobilisation & Awareness

  • Improving cities’ infrastructure and public spaces

  • Innovation, Data and Technology

The support provided by the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety will be focused on three main aspects: Seed Funding, Technical and Advocacy Support, Mentorship, and Partnerships.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR LOCAL ACTIONS

Projects will be evaluated based on a criteria presented in the Local Actions Guidelines. Mandatory components are non-negotiable.

The Mandatary Components are as follows;

  1. You must be an official Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety member. If you aren’t yet, please sign up here.

  2. You must have completed the Global Youth Consultation. Be sure to take a screenshot of the screen once you’ve completed the Consultation.

  3. Take and complete the first three modules of YOURS Academy. You will need to provide three certificates accordingly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Only the person submitting the proposal needs to meet the requirements. However, all team members are encouraged to fulfil the requirements to ensure they have the necessary road safety knowledge.
